In the Second version( Branagh ), the beginning was very dim and dramatic. He used alot of darkness and fog to give this eerie feel to the presence of the ghost of the king. When Hamlet was running through the forest he was singing loud in an opera kind of way. The ground was being covered in explosions and gave you the feeling of how he was feeling. The way the ghost talked sounded in despair and anger. You could feel the chill in the air when he talked. Yet you couldn't always understood the what he was saying.
In the first one,Zeffirelli, the beginning was not as dramatic but the message was clear. When Hamlet was following his father he had a sword at hand, this made it very suspenseful. The ghost in this one was more sad and full of despair about his death. In the second one he was full of rage and fury. I believe Mel Gibson played Hamlet the best. He added more rage and passion after the ghost of his father spoke to him.
The third one was set in more of a modern scene. This set it apart from the other movies. They still spoke the same but in third one there was more pauses and a slower pace of words . This was probably done sso more people could understand it. I like when the dad was talking, you could see on the television the image of flames and what appeared to be hell. This was added for dramatic effect to give you the sense of the anger that is inside the dad.
